They provide guidance and counseling to families who have terminally ill patients… Children of divorced parents also have their problems. So, social workers help them move on with their normal lives in the best possible way, otherwise they are likely to go into the state of depression or start taking drugs or find other outlets to cope with their problems.
At times social workers are involved in providing assistance to people in a large group, especially in areas which are going through a rehabilitation period after a natural catastrophe. In schools, social workers help students cope with the problems they face with their friends, teachers and families, so they can continue to do well in their studies. All in all, social workers are touching the lives of individuals so they can become useful citizens of their country. Of course, as the lives of individuals change for the better, so will society as a whole.
